Hair Mineral Analysis

Many people suffer from health disorders or unspecific complaints that cannot be clearly defined. The cause could be heavy metal exposure or an imbalance in the trace element or mineral balance, which disturbs or blocks important metabolic steps. A hair mineral analysis can reveal these connections. The metabolic balance can often be restored through targeted micronutrient intake and lifestyle adjustments.

The hair mineral analysis as the key to therapeutic success.

Also, for our animal companions: The coat of our animal pets says a lot about their well-being. Therefore, a hair mineral analysis is also a good way to detect imbalances. This possibility is already used by some veterinarians to care for the health of their animal patients.

For whom is a hair mineral analysis useful?

  • For non-specific symptoms that cannot be assigned to a specific disease.
  • For the prevention of chronic complaints that can be caused by toxic metals or mineral/trace element deficiencies (e.g. migraine, osteoporosis, rheumatism, etc.).
  • In individual need situations, e.g. for:
    • Children and adolescents with concentration disorders
    • People with increased susceptibility to infections
    • Athletes to support their performance

Cooperation partner

Ortho-Analytic is a modern Swiss analytical laboratory whose primary objectives include cause-oriented, integrative laboratory diagnostics.

In cooperation with renowned complementary physicians, competence centres and clinics for holistic medicine, we offer support to medical professionals in their search for individual therapy concepts. The comprehensive and scientifically based medical analyses cover broad areas of expertise such as

  • Micronutrient nutrition
  • Mitochondrial medicine - Oxidative stress
  • Toxic stress - Detoxification
  • Gastrointestinal/stomach diagnostics - Microbiome analysis
  • Food intolerances
  • Stress diagnostics - Neurostress
  • Endocrinology - Salivary hormones
  • Dry blood spot analyses (e.g. vitamin D, fatty acid profile, etc.)

What can I expect from a hair mineral analysis?

The hair mineral analysis gives you a precise and comprehensive statement about your heavy metal, mineral and trace element balance. The hair as a slowly growing tissue allows - in contrast to a blood test - a long-term statement about the last months.

  • 38 elements examined: 18 heavy metals, 20 minerals and trace elements.
  • You receive a clear and concise finding of deficiencies and toxic burdens.
  • The detailed evaluation of these findings serves as a basis for correcting any metabolic imbalances in prevention and therapy.

What method is used for the analysis?

How is the hair prepared?

The method on which hair mineral analysis is based is ICPMS (Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry). It is used, among other things, for trace analysis of heavy metals such as mercury, lead or cadmium.

What an ICPMS is and more information about ICPMS can be found at:  Wikipedia.org

The sample hair undergoes three washing steps to wash out contaminants and oils. If, for example, anti-dandruff shampoo containing selenium is used, please specify, as there is a possibility that this may not be washed out completely and may lead to false positive selenium values.
